Background
Self-Serve Advertorial by IDN is a standalone platform that enables advertisers to create, manage, and publish advertorials quickly, transparently, and without manual processes. This solution helps brands, including SMEs, advertise more easily, affordably, and scalably through automation.
Currently, advertorial purchasing on IDN Ads (By IDN) still relies heavily on manual processes. Advertisers must wait for email responses, negotiate, and go through numerous approval stages, slowing down the process. The lack of transparency regarding pricing, production progress, and broadcast schedules often leaves advertisers feeling under-controlled.
For SMEs, the challenges are even greater. High budgets and user-unfriendly processes make it difficult to get started, leading many to abandon advertising altogether.
What Challenges Did We Need to Tackle?
Slow manual process: Advertisers have to wait for email replies and time-consuming negotiations, making advertorial execution inefficient.
Multi-layered approval flow: Many approval stages slow down content publication and hinder the continuity of the process.
Lack of transparency: Advertisers lack clear visibility into pricing, content creation status, and broadcast schedules.
Barriers for SMEs: High minimum budgets and user-unfriendly processes make it difficult for SMEs to get started and often lead to withdrawals before purchasing.
How might We?
How Might We is an open-ended question that helps us discover possible solutions to a problem, without immediately determining the answer.
How can we simplify the advertorial purchasing process?
How can we increase transparency and user control throughout the process?
How can we make advertorials more accessible to SMEs?
Design Process
We use a three-stage Framework that helps in making design decisions and assessing whether the product behavior is working effectively.

Final Design
Home page
This landing page serves as the main portal for the Self-Serve Advertorial Ads (By IDN) service. On this page, advertisers (especially SMEs) can view advertorial package offerings, price estimates, and steps for creating article ads independently.

Buat Iklan Page
On the Buat Iklan page, users can independently manage the entire advertorial campaign process. This includes selecting the ad placement objective, determining which portal the article will appear on, and uploading their own draft article. The system then allows for a content preview, and then users simply make a payment for the article to be published.

Kelola Iklan Page
The Kelola Iklan page is designed as a central control center for users to monitor their entire campaign in a single view. Users can view ad status, broadcast schedules, and basic performance, as well as take quick actions like editing, updating content, or resuming pending payments.

Output Advertorial
The advertorials created will appear directly on user-selected portals like IDN Times in a natural, relevant editorial format, ready to reach the right audience. The content will appear professional, blend with the media's style, and provide optimal brand exposure.

Lessons Along The Process
With a faster and simpler flow, users can complete purchases without feeling hampered, making the process feel more natural and efficient.
Prices and campaign information are displayed transparently, users feel more confident and trust in every decision they make.
Giving users complete control makes them feel more independent as if they are managing their ads like a professional without needing anyone's help.
Automation has successfully reduced the manual work that has burdened teams, allowing everyone to focus on more important and valuable tasks.
A more automated system opens up opportunities for more stable growth and businesses can grow without having to add to the team's burden.
